For people within five years of retirement or already retired

Check your own retirement math before you sit through another product sales pitch

Most retirement advice online was written for someone else's situation. Most retirement meetings are designed to end in a product. Neither one tells you whether the plan you actually have is right for you or even holds up.

Here are two ways to check your numbers:

Live · Tuesdays, 6:30 pm Central

The Retire on Time Workshop

"Walk me through it, and let me ask questions."

Sixty minutes on how retirement planning actually works (plan first, strategies second, products third). Bring the plan you already have and check it against the process.

Free via Zoom. You'll get the event link by email.

On Your Own Time

The Retire on Time Planning Kit

I'd rather work through it myself."

The book, the workbook, and the planning calculators in one place. Start with the three-minute readiness check. Then go at whatever pace suits you.

Free with Login Access. No download to lose track of.

Not sure which? If you've never mapped out the order (plan, then strategies, then portfolio), start with the Tuesday workshop. If you already have a plan and want to pressure-test it yourself, take the Kit. Plenty of people end up doing both.

Both doors teach the same thing...

...in a different order.

There's a sequence to retirement planning that almost nobody follows, and getting it backward is what quietly costs people money for twenty years. It isn't complicated. It's just rarely taught, because there's nothing to sell at the end of it.

Plan First

Before any product or strategy, you need to know what your money has to do and for how long. Most people start with products and then try to force them into a plan. That's backwards.

Strategies Second

Withdrawal order, tax bracket space, when to file for Social Security. These are decisions, not products, and they need to be explored before you could know what should be in your portfolio.

Products Third

There's no such thing as a perfect investment, product, or strategy. Nothing does everything well. Products are how a strategy gets implemented. They're the last question, not the first.

What you'll have that you don't have now.

After Tuesday's workshop

  • The correct sequence when putting together a retirement plan

  • The truth about how to manage money in the market (it's simpler than you think)

  • How to lower your risk based on your plan, not an arbitrary portfolio allocation

  • Discover strategies often missed that can help you get more out of your money

After working through the Kit

  • A readiness check that tells you how close you are to being able to retire

  • The book and workbook, which show you how to put a retirement plan together

  • Retirement calculators to run your own numbers instead of taking someone's word

  • Enough of the framework that you could build the plan yourself if you chose to

Pick a door.

Same material either way. The only real question is whether you'd rather be walked through it on a Tuesday or work through it on your own.
